Government focuses on Health and Education
India has been continuously increasing spending on social sectors like education, health and rural welfare schemes.
India has seen increase in per capita expenditure on health from Rs 14 in 1980-81 to Rs 336 in 2007-08. Per capita expenditure has increased for education (Rs 1390) and social security and welfare services as well (Rs 492).
As inclusive growth becomes the new mantra and India tries to catch up with other BRIC nations on health and education, these sectors are expected to receive more public funding.
