Gateway of India, Mumbai
Year of Completion: 1924
The Gateway of India was built to celebrate the arrival of King George V and Queen Mary. The central dome of this massive structure is 15 metres in diameter and stands 26 metres high. Reinforced granite and yellow basalt was used in its construction. Designed by architect George Wittet, the Gateway is usually a starting point for tourists.
