The Taj Mahal, Agra

This striking edifice was built by emperor Shah Jahan as a mausoleum in memory of Queen Mumtaz. Built on a large pedestal and surrounded by four minarets, each more than 40 meters tall, the principal designer of the Taj Mahal is generally considered to be Ustad Ahmed Lahauri.
